Common questions

Why didn’t Toothpick find anything? Either nothing in your selected price tier is open right now, or your radius is too small. Try widening the distance dial (Bike → Car) or shifting your price tier by one.

Why does it want my location? The whole product is “find an open restaurant near me.” We can’t do that without GPS. We use “While Using” only — never background.

Does Toothpick work without internet? No. The pick uses Google Places, which requires a network connection.

The same restaurant keeps coming up. Pull-to-refresh on the home screen to re-pick. Toothpick picks at random from up to 20 results in your radius — small towns simply don’t have many options.

What does “Miser / Cheap / Legit / Fancy / Swank” mean? They map to Google’s price-level scale 1 through 5. Most fast food and diners are 1–2. Most full-service restaurants are 2–3. “Swank” (5) is rare and mostly applies to high-end metro areas.
