Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
The short version
- Toothpick does not have user accounts.
- Toothpick does not have a backend server.
- Toothpick does not track you, log analytics, or send your activity anywhere.
- The only outbound network call is to Google Places API when you tap “Pick!”, which sends your current location and search preferences (price tier, distance) so Google can return nearby open restaurants.
What data the app uses
| Data | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your last selected price and distance settings | On your device only (local storage) | So your settings persist between launches |
| Your current GPS location | Used in the moment of a Places search; cached on-device for the active session | To find restaurants near you |
| The restaurant Toothpick picked for you | On your device only | So the Navigate and Arrival screens have something to display |
The app requests “While Using” location permission. It does not request “Always” / background location.
Third parties
- Google Places API (New). When you tap “Pick!”, your latitude/longitude, a radius (1km, 2.5km, or 15km), and a price filter are sent to Google. Google’s privacy policy applies to that request: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple App Store / Google Play. When you install or update the app, Apple and Google receive standard install telemetry. Toothpick has no visibility into that.
That’s it. There is no other third party.
Children
Toothpick has no chat, social features, accounts, or content beyond restaurant lookups. We don’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change anything material, the date at the top will change and we’ll explain what’s different in the App Store / Play Store release notes.
